As part of the Texas LoanSTAR Program, Kinsman and Associates was selected to produce an Energy Assessment Report on the Denton campus. Following this assessment, TxMHMR contracted with our firm to design, specify, and monitor the renovation construction of lighting, heating, cooling, and a campus-wide facility control system. Fifty-three buildings were converted to more efficient types of lighting (e.g., T8 fluorescent lamps and electronics ballasts). Thirty-six of these buildings received energy management system (EMS) controls that are interconnected with a fiber optics/Ethernet pathway. A large steam boiler was removed and replaced with four staged hot water boilers. Many rooftop packaged units, fan coils, and single boilers were also replaced throughout the campus.
