engineers have served as consultants to this medical facility
on a number of projects. This has included an energy audit
and survey of the entire complex to identify necessary
equipment upgrades and renovations and a lighting and
chiller retrofit partially funded through a local utility
provider.
To fund the lighting and chiller retrofit, Parkland wished
to participate in the TXU Electric TEEM Incentive Pilot
Program that would provide significant cost incentives
for lighting and chiller efficiency upgrades. Our engineers
worked with the hospital engineering staff and TXU to
fulfill necessary program savings calculations and measurement
and verification. Our engineers also assisted in construction
administration to ensure the retrofits would meet efficiency
and quality guidelines. This project has resulted in annual
electric savings of over 6.8 million kWh and in significant
cash-back incentives paid to Parkland.
Other projects our engineers have completed include a
detailed engineering study of the feasibility of constructing
a cogeneration plant for the medical complex and seeking
a Voluntary Emission Reduction Permit from TNRCC for the
hospital boilers.
