As energy consultants to this medical center, our engineers have designed and implemented several retrofit projects to contain energy costs and electrical demand during a period of substantial growth in building construction and patient care. These projects included major lighting conversions and improvements, replacement of steam traps, installation of booster cooling coils and a deaerator tank, replacement of steam boilers with high efficiency fire-tube boilers, installation of a standby chiller for critical areas by normal electrical service or emergency generator, and implementation of a computer controlled energy management system (EMS).
